Jaguar Land Rover

Jaguar Land Rover has appointed Chris Thorp as corporate affairs director with immediate effect, succeeding Helen McLintock.

Daimler  

Dr. Wolfgang Bartels is to become the new Chief Compliance Officer at Daimler on July 1, 2020 and will thus also be the Head of the Compliance department.    

He will succeed Olaf Schick, who is to become the Chief Financial Officer of Daimler Greater China effective July 1, 2020.

Bentley Motors

Dr. Matthias Rabe appointed Member of the Board for Engineering of Bentley Motors.

Dr. Matthias Rabe, currently Chief Technology Officer of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, will be appointed Member of the Board for Engineering at Bentley Motors, effective 1 August 2020. He succeeds Dr. Werner Tietz who will leave the luxury brand at the end of June 2020 after more than two years to take up the position of Executive Vice-President for Research and Development at SEAT.

Amazon Could Compete Directly With Carmakers As It Makes Its Move In The Self-Driving Space

The company is expected to further improve its stock price and strengthen market penetration as it emerges in the transportation field, competing directly with carmakers, package delivery firms and even ride-hailing companies.

To achieve that goal, it will need to build its own logistics ecosystem and invest in electric and autonomous vehicle startups.   By making such moves, Amazon could lower its shipping costs to the point that partners like UPS become competitors.

Fiat launches ‘pay as you go’ finance deal for £10 a day

Fiat says it has become the first car manufacturer to offer a “pay as you go” car finance scheme to UK drivers.

The Italian brand says the innovative approach to charging means the average commuter can now drive a brand-new car for less than £10.50 a day.

The UK Government is reportedly looking for a four-million square foot site to accommodate a new production facility for the electric car maker.

  The Department for International Trade (DIT) is heading the search for a plot of land that is large enough for a Tesla plant that will house a Research and Development facility, along with a production plant.
