The Cost of the Skills Gap – Lynn Calder of INEOS Automotive

Lynn Calder is CEO of INEOS Automotive, a subsidiary of one of the leading manufacturers of petrochemicals in the world, INEOS.

A rare breed in the industry, she does not have an automotive background but has held a variety of CEO and other senior roles at several of INEOS’s subsidiaries. Prior to this, she worked in private equity.
INEOS Automotive launched their hydrogen-fuelled Grenadier Demonstrator earlier this year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The vehicle is capable of everything a conventionally powered Grenadier can do but with zero emissions. An all-electric model of the Grenadier is due for launch in 2026.

Now, they plan to move from the development of a single product to become a long-term sustainable automotive OEM. An all-electric model of the Grenadier is due for launch in 2026, and that is just the beginning.

When we spoke to Lynn, she explained the unique position that INEOS Automotive is in, and how they are using a combination of drawing on talent from automotive to boost the skills they need to develop and benefitting from existing skills within their core business of petrochemicals to add more value.
