Women’s Automotive Industry Initiatives

As this month comes to an end, Ennis & Co want to highlight some of the fantastic initiatives we have seen which are working towards gender equality and driving more women into the automotive and mobility industry:

On International Women’s Day 2023, LKQ Euro Car Parts launched their ‘25 by 25 initiative’ to commit to ensuring at least 25% of its entire workforce is made up of women by the end of 2025.

At the most recent SMMT Annual Dinner, the UK automotive industry launched its new Diversity & Inclusion Charter in collective commitment to make workforces reflective of wider society and attract more talent to fill critical skills gaps.

Autocar Great Women rising stars 2023 celebrates the up-and-coming stars of the automotive industry. Ennis & Co are proud to continue to support this initiative, we feel it is important to shed light on the new talent coming into the industry as well as highlighting the range of opportunities available to all.

Globally, Toyota has promoted gender diversity in its workforce and implemented a range of programs to support women in the workplace, along with setting goals to increase the number of women in leadership positions. They also used the platform of International Women’s Day 2023 to ‘call for the automotive industry to do more to embrace equity’.

The Barbara Cox Woman of the Year 2023 award recognises women in the automotive industry who embrace innovation and advances in the industry, who inspire others through a commitment to great leadership, and give back to their community. To celebrate International Women’s Day, the award was presented at the ‘Women with Drive’ event, organised by Cox Automotive Europe.

Ford is committed to promoting gender equality in the automotive industry. The company has set a goal of increasing the number of women in senior leadership positions and has implemented a range of initiatives to support this goal, including mentoring and leadership development programs.

General Motors has been recognised as a leader in promoting diversity and inclusion in the automotive industry. The company has set a goal of achieving gender parity in leadership positions by 2030 and has implemented a range of initiatives to support women in the workplace.
