Technology digital transformation

It goes without saying that 2020 is an exciting new era for automotive.

With the continued growth of alternatively fuelled vehicles, new and improved digital platforms, as well as the advancements moving forward with vehicle autonomy; the time for attracting talented individuals to deliver the key skills needed has never been greater.

And what better time to join a fast-paced, ever-evolving industry when there is simply so much variety?

In fact, having launched our new initiative in partnership with Autocar, known as ‘Drivers of Change’, it has been amazing to see the journey of so many people from other industries joining the world of automotive… and why they have never looked back.

Backed by 14 fantastic industry-leading sponsors, the collective idea was to bring this initiative to life together to breathe new talent into our wonderful industry. It’s not just about tackling some of the stereotypes that can tag along to automotive; it’s about conveying how diverse, inclusive and forward-thinking this sector really is.

As executive search specialists for the automotive industry, we are just as passionate about the talent of the future as we are about existing talent. We know criteria has changed when it comes to filling roles. And we know that sometimes the perfect person for a role is out there… they just don’t know that themselves. They could be channelling their skills into an industry that needs them… and we want to help drive the change to make this happen.

If this sounds like you, or someone you know, we hope you can take a little time to share a golden opportunity for them to experience the industry. We’re looking for a short-written piece accompanied by a 90 second video showcasing insightful ideas surrounding one of three key categories: technological, digital and retail. All vital areas of automotive, there will be a chance to think ‘outside the box’ into how the industry can be transformed and how this could involve the entrant… whether the idea be big or small. You may be thinking that the need for varied skills could discriminate. Yet, in fact, it is completely the opposite. If you are working in digital marketing for a non-automotive organisation, for example, yet want to analyse fascinating data trends when it comes to automotive retail… then this could be the step forward for you. Or, say you have studied and are fascinated by the concept of vehicles propelled by something other than petrol – why not channel that passion into automotive research and development? There are also incredible opportunities for those with a love of computer science, mechanical engineering, software development, sustainability integration… even 3D printing and design. The possibilities are effectively endless.

Having a great knowledge of products and customer service is another key element, should you wish to take the retail route. These routes are often the main driving force for the success of automotive organisations… as how can sales be generated without the right people propelling them forward?

These are of course merely examples of just a tiny percentage of some of the exciting career opportunities out there at the moment. This is but the tip of the iceberg. There doesn’t necessarily have to be an automotive background connection to get involved in the industry.

Please share this on and let’s see what the future looks like in terms of industry talent…
